Kite Running By: Isaac Nelson

Kite Running Kite running comes from many parts of the world. It’s played in many Asian countries during festivals, and other special events. It’s a very popular sport that has come down from generation to generation. The sport is many centuries old.

How To Play Kite running is basically like a duel using kites. The goal is to cut the opponents string. The most common way to cut the opponents string is to wrap around the string, or to make a quick, fast sweeping motion. The line cuts because the string is made out of special twine, lined with abrasive material.

Different Countries Each country usually has it’s own style in how to play. In Afghanistan, the line is twine with the abrasive material. In Japan the kites are MUCH bigger and usually have cooler nicer designs. In the Bahamas the kites don’t have razor string, instead the tails are razor sharp.

Why It’s Called Kite Running After a kite is cut, people sprint to get the fallen kite. This is called Kite Running. For most people, people think kite running itself is the most fun part of the sport. When kites are caught, this is considered something very important, and the kites are treated like trophies.

The Importance Kite running is a very popular sport, and is important to Asian culture and festivals. Kite running is a lot like football to us Americans, or soccer to South Americans. It’s a very important thing that represents culture, and what we like to do.
