3 CYP is a CNIC Quality of Life Program Learning Outcomes Participants will receive CNIC CYP’s (N926) purpose and vision of the Navy 4-H STEM Specialty Camp Program. Participants will receive the requirements and supplemental guidance of the Navy 4-H STEM Specialty Camp Program. Participants will be exposed to professional and industry standards in the execution of the Navy 4-H STEM Specialty Camp Program that may lead to future enhancement of installation-based Youth Programs.

6 CYP is a CNIC Quality of Life Program Purpose STEM Camps Why does Navy CYP implement the STEM Camp Program? Navy Teens Improve their sense of a “Navy teen community,” and Opportunities and exposure to professional and industry standards of varying educational and recreational activities that could lead to possible career paths or future leisure in the varying activities. Navy CYP Projects are designed to strengthen installation-based Youth Programs. Hope that selected sites continue offering similar programming for their Navy families after the conclusion of their STEM Camp experience.

Read and reread the rules Know who is eligible Make a plan, timeline with goals Create your team (staff and teens) Brainstorm Spend lots of time filming multiple takes of a single shot Use software you (or the teens) are familiar with Deliver the application early! 14 2015 Project Create a 29-second marketing video Create a 1-3 minute marketing video Marketing videos are intended to: Raise awareness of Navy Youth Programs, Reach out to existing and new populations of military youth eligible for Navy Youth Programs, Increase local Navy Youth Programs participation, and Communicate information about Navy Youth Programs from a teen perspective. Include the STEM project in your OMP event! Teen Participation Support from MWR and Public Affairs

15 Project Guidance Video Content Requirements Market the services, opportunities, and activities being offered (or soon to be offered), Visually display teens throughout the video, Provide teens opportunities to assist in the filming and/or design of their marketing videos, Include audio sound bites of teens (when voiceovers are necessary) and stock sound effects, Prohibit the use of copyrighted popular music, Have a professional look and feel with a balance of teen language and culture, Provide the specific strengths of the Navy Youth Programs, and Provide contact information or a method for interested teens to request more information.

16 Project Guidance Video Formatting Requirements Short videos cannot exceed 29 seconds. Long videos must be between 1-3 minutes. Each video must be able to successfully market your Navy Youth Program by itself. Videos 720p, DCPro 50, High Definition, 720x1280 Frame Audio must be 44,000 samples/sec (44 kHz) in mono or stereo. 48 kHz preferred. GoPro Adjust settings to capture 1920x1080 with 16:9 ratio. Videos recorded on smart phones cannot be used. Connect with your local MWR Marketing or PAO for clarification and assistance.

18 CNIC Funding 10 Navy Youth Programs will be selected!!! Funding will support 2 staff and 12 teens per installation!!! **2 Navy installations per camp**

19 Eligibility Staff must: Have a completed and favorable CNACI Be at least 21 years-old Be employed with Navy CYP for at least 6 months Accustomed to airline travel Have no record of major staff disciplinary actions Teens Must: Be selected by their Youth Program and based on local eligibility policies Be those who support the creation of the video application Be between 13-17 years-old by May 15 Have a minimum 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale) Valid passport (international travelers)

20 Application Process Limit of one (1) 29-second video and one (1) 1-3 minute video application per Navy Youth Programs. A Policy Letter and Program Brochure will be delivered by the end of March. Video Applications will be due NO LATER THAN May 15, 2015 @ 11:59pm CST. Application submission instructions will be provided shortly. However, similar to 2014, all video applications must be delivered electronically.
