COMMISSIONED OFFICER VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT NEW YORK AIR NATIONAL GUARD 174th FIGHTER WING 6001 EAST MOLLOY ROAD SYRACUSE, NY 13211-7099 ANNOUNCEMENT DATE: 1 May 2015 CLOSING DATE: 9 Aug 2015 UNIT: 174 Medical Group POSITION TITLE: CLINICAL NURSE / NURSE ADMINISTRATOR Minimum Grade: Major and Maximum Rank: Lt Col AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All candidates may apply who meet the basic qualification for this position and who are eligible for membership in the NYANG. AFSC: 46N3/46A SPECIALTY SUMMARY (As outlined in AFI 46-101).. Plans, organizes, executes, and directs nursing care practices. Serves as Chief Nurse or senior staff officer to oversee Nursing Services. Coordinates with and makes recommendations to MDG Commander concerning nursing policies, plans and programs. Supports cross-functional collaboration to improve patient care delivery. Supports research activities. Related DoD Occupational Group: 260501. QUALIFICATIONS AND SELECTION FACTORS - Selection for this position will be made without regard to race, religion, color, creed, gender or national origin. - Applications are subject to review by the MPF and as mandatory requirements are met, as outlined in applicable regulations, applicants must meet an Officer Screening and Interviewing Board (OSIB). - The requirements and qualifications prescribed in this announcement are minimum for nomination for appointment consideration. Appointment is not assured merely by meeting these requirements. Persons considered must further qualify with requirements outlined in ANGI 36-2005. EDUCATION: (1) Graduation from an accredited school of nursing acceptable to the Surgeon General, HQ USAF. (2) Bachelor’s degree in nursing. A Master’s Degree in Nursing or related specialty from an accredited educational program approved by the AF/SG is preferred. EXPERIENCE: 46N3- a minimum of 12 months in the capacity or Assistant Chief Nurse, Chief Nurse, or comparable section supervisor. Civilian clinical nursing experience or time spent in the Air Force Nurse Transition Program is creditable toward award of the qualified AFSC. (SEE REVERSE) KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of nursing standards of practice, nursing executive skills/competencies and Air Force contingency plans is mandatory.

HQ NYANG Fm 11, 7 Oct 96 OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must pass a COMMISSIONING PHYSICAL. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs Clinical Nurse responsibilities such as: Assesses health and needs of individuals and populations. Collects, records, and analyzes patient or population health data from preventive health assessments, health history, health screening, and other sources. As Chief Nurse, responsibilities include: Directs nursing service activities, evaluates qualifications and maintains functional control of Air Force Nurse Corps officers, and enlisted nursing personnel. Facilitates delivery of evidence-based nursing care according to established scope and standards of practice. Establishes, interprets and directs implementation of nursing policy. Provides oversight of staff development program for all levels of nursing personnel and directs assignments accordingly. Evaluates performance of nursing service personnel, nursing activities, standards of nursing care and nursing practice. Facilitates and participates in nursing research. Makes recommendations to MDG commander on administrative matters concerning Nurse Corps officers and other nursing service personnel. Participates in Executive Management to review and recommend changes related to mission specific operations. Participates in studies, consultative visits, and evaluative surveys within the range of Air Force Medical Service activities. Represents nursing interests, concerns, and support in health care planning, training, and research. OSIB: An officer Screening and Interviewing Board (OSIB) is projected to convene O/A 12-13 Sep 15, Unit Training Assembly (UTA) to interview all qualified applicants.
