So what appeared to be the major issues? The current situation with the Head teacher Staffing Offers of parental help not taken up Behaviour system Homework Communication – often short notice Don’t know what children are learning Lack of sports teams and after school clubs
7
The current situation with the Head teacher ‘Parents will appreciate that due to confidentiality reasons the school are unable to provide a precise update on the position regarding Mrs James and her current period of absence. Parents should be assured that governors are working with the full support of the Local Authority to ensure that all staff and pupils at Chelmondiston Primary School are not adversely impacted by her absence. As soon as the governors are in a position to make any further announcement it will be communicated without delay.’ Suffolk LA

Staffing The role of teachers has changed considerably - 40% of teachers quit the profession within five years (many within the first year) What percentage of the budget is spent on staff salaries & total employee costs? We’ve had an unfortunate year with 3 teachers choosing to leave (albeit one for maternity) People haven’t applied for our vacancies however we have secured Mrs McCulloch for September and classes are in the process of being allocated – parents and children will know by the end of the month.
9
Offers of parental help not being taken up Have a ‘sign up’ list in the foyer for anyone to sign up when they can come in and how long for – teachers can ‘grab’ the opportunity on a first come first served basis Name (and how you can be contacted) Day(s) on which you can help Times at which you can come into school Any age groups/areas you would prefer to avoid Offers of parental help
10
Homework and the Behaviour system These are ‘biggies’ Second forum, early in Autumn term Parents involved in re-writing the Homework and Behaviour policies

13
Lack of sports teams, after school clubs, etc. Links back to staffing difficulties this year – the intention is to get more clubs running after school again from September and parental offers of support for this would be great! Also to get sports teams, possibly from across both Chelmondiston and Tattingstone competing together
