Overview of Fiji Fiji is an island country in Melanesia in the South Pacific Ocean and comprises of more than 332 islands. The climate in Fiji is tropical marine and warm most of the year round with minimal extremes. Fiji has a significant amount of tourism and many people visit the Nadi and Denarau Since Fiji has lots of soft coral reefs, and scuba diving is a common tourist activity. They have beautiful beaches and weather, moreover, they have unique culture. The accommodation is excellent and the country is quiet and safe; therefore, Fiji is a wonderful choice for the couple to have one last vacation before becoming parents. http://www.fiji.gov.fj

Travel Advisories Maintain a low profile, expect a number of police and military checkpoints, closely monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities. Robbery and assault occur, particularly at night in urban areas. Do not share taxis with strangers. Ensure that your personal belongings, passports and other travel documents are secure at all times. 6. Food and Beverage Water in Fiji :Officially the tap water in Nadi and Suva is safe to drink. However, outside the main cities is not safe to drink. It is recommend to buy bottle water in Fiji, boil it or treat it with water purification tablets. Local Food: Fijian food has a wonderful mix of Indian cuisine and middle of the pacific ocean Nama. Also known as sea grapes. The main ingredient is the seaweed. They are incredibly green and the tiny little beads kind of pop in mouth. KoKoda. Raw pieces of white fish marinated in coconut cream, lime, onions and tomatoes. Local Beverage: Kava. National drink of Fiji. In Fiji Kava is used as a symbol to bring two groups of people together. 7. Culture and Traditional Local Customs and Traditional Do not wear hats. They are interpreted as a sign of disrespect. Always remove your shoes before entering any house or other building. It is customary to present a gift of kava, Holidays National Youth Day : May 4. It is considered to be one of the most important dates in Fiji’s holiday calendar. Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Day : In honor of the country’s first modern statesman, Fiji marks the last Monday or Friday of May. Fiji Religion Fiji is a multi racial and multi cultural nation. One finds Hindus, Muslims, Christians, and Buddhists living in peace and harmony in Fiji. Things to know Before entering religious place. Do not wear sandals, shoes or socks when going into a Muslim, Hindu temple. Females sit on one side of the alter and the males on the other in Muslim Temple. Public Religious Holiday Diwali ( Festival of Light): November 2-4. It is Hindu Festival. Most of shops will be closed.
