2 Guided by the Maharashtra Region and Town Planning Act of 1966, commonly known as the MR&TP act The DP has to be revised minimum every 20 years The last DP part was sanctioned in the year 1994 New DP will be enforced from 2014 and will be in force till 2034 EOI date 26 th June 2009 By Law you have only 60 days to comment on DP!! We want to make this process as Public Participatory as possible!!

3 Existing DP The Development Plan (Maps and a Report on the Development Plan) Development Control Regulations Commonly referred to as the DCRs Reservation Document giving the various reservations ward wise

4 Layers of development control maps and regulations for various issues in the city Proper zoning and sub-division plan Implementation Strategies for prescribed development in the DP Development Control Regulations for all layers of the city fabric Should not circumvent the development control guidelines by giving executive powers to bureaucracy

5 Area-wise implementation of the existing DP according to the MCGM is only 12% The current DP does only amenity provision however it has a broader implication on the nature of the development of the city

7 The development plan should be open providing for all classes of people provide for equitable distribution in the allocation of resources and development development plan should make optimal use of resources
