Welcome to Galileo Concierge Live! On the Map… “It’s all about Location!” Russ Holm Supplier Training Manager May 9, 2007

Overview 1.RoomMaster® was created with the intent to link references to hotels, making it easier for travel agents to find hotels nearest to where their clients are traveling. 2.The common link between all hotels and all references in the database is a latitude and longitude (geocoding). 3.Each week the new hotels are extracted from the system, making them candidates for geocoding. 4.Geocoding can only be done by automation in the U.S., Canada, Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand. 5.Geocoding is dependant on the address entered into RoomMaster as being correct and formatted, according to Galileo guidelines, in the freeform ADDR property keyword!

Realities  Over 99% of all U.S. and Canadian Hotels are geocoded  A high percentage of Western European Hotels are geocoded  An equally high percentage of Australian and New Zealand Hotels are geocoded  Many hotels in the rest of the world are NOT geocoded, or are geocoded to approximate, city center locations We try to do our best, but are reliant on geographic data supplier content and tools.

Challenges 1.Geocoding outside the U.S., Canada, Western Europe and just recently, Australia and New Zealand. 2.Involving the Supplier community a)Galileo needs to let go b)Suppliers need to step up 3.Sharing geocode information restricted by contract. Over the past few years Galileo has been asking suppliers for geocode information. Many have responded, but in many cases have discovered the same challenges Galileo has struggled with for the past 15 years! They don’t have a tool. In many parts of the world Address Geocoding cannot be done. The technology has not yet been created!

Non-Address Matches When an address does not get an exact match by the geocoding server, the data cannot be added to RoomMaster. We have tried to add the data in the past but found it unreliable, creating a disservice. Local knowledge is required to approve the location:

The Consequences! A hotel not geocoded is not automatically connected to suburban cities and reference points: The Holiday Inn on the previous page will not get connected to the town of Pampa, Tx., and does not display in Availability! Note: The Holiday Inn Pampa has been manually corrected by calling the hotel and verifying their location. Unfortunately, Galileo cannot do that on a regular basis.

The Solution Galileo is negotiating with a geographic data supplier for a tool that will provide you and your individual hotels the ability to pin-point their location on an internet map, globally.  A new Keyword has been created in RoomMaster. WWWE has been created to hold the email address of the hotel, or chain level individual you make responsible for geocoding. Supplier’s can specify this keyword in their bulk data transfers and populate this keyword from their CRS!  This tool will write to a database to be downloaded by Galileo and used to update the RoomMaster geocode database.  Galileo will solve the onward distribution hurdles by licensing the data. You will be notified when this agreement is finalized.

Reference Points According to the April, 2007 transaction report, the total number of hotel availability requests entered were: Galileo (1G) - 2,646,853 –58.84% qualified by reference points Apollo (1V) - 5,831,080 –68.34% qualified by reference points These are BIG numbers! That means an overwhelming majority of the searches for hotels are entered away from the airport! Are your most important Reference Points included in the Galileo Directory?

Reference Points, cont. Reference points include: Attractions Business, Sporting event venues, tourist attractions Suburban cities Towns not assigned an IATA city code Railway stations Grand Central Station, etc. Ports Port Everglades, etc. Note: All must be associated to an IATA city. Travel agents overwhelmingly want to find a hotel nearest where their customers are traveling! Be sure your most important Reference Points are included in the Galileo Directory!

Reference Points, cont.

Below is the same map, with the reference points plotted from the Directory. Agents can also search by these references:

Add Reference Points The Supplier Services Website has a form for you to request the addition of individual Reference Points and Suburbs:

Give it a try…. http://www.galileo.com/hotels Hotel Secure Access Please contact your Regional Director with questions, or if you need a log in. Thank you!

Questions? There is a little bit of time left for questions, if there are any. ?
