3. Summary of changes to Mathematics curriculum It goes further than the previous curriculum. Practice is key! There is a renewed emphasis on problem solving The programme of study is set out on a year- by-year basis As you’ve probably heard, calculators are banned in the KS2 SAT Levels are gone!

6. Early Years curriculum M (Mathematics) – embedded across the whole curriculum -N (Numbers) -SSM (Shape Space and Measures)  Number Fun - practical activities with a variety of resources which are child- led  Focus groups with an adult  1 to 1 working on individual targets

Year 1 - 6  From school to school there will be variations on how lessons are planned and taught  New concepts are taught through practical approaches  Lessons can start with a mental oral starter or a challenge to investigate  There will be an input to the main phase of the learning  The main teaching phase - accessing a range of resources to support their learning  Pit stop plenaries – assessing understanding and dealing with misconceptions  Plenary – evaluate learning and/or move onto the next phase of learning
