2 STEM: Scholarships Description: Provide scholarships for aspiring engineers, technicians, programmers, military personnel and government officials. Major Activities: Monthly luncheon raffles, Golf Tournament, JWC Maintain successful scholarship program recognizing area students for further study in communications and engineering disciplines Increase scholarship giving 5% over previous year. Provide 1 year AFCEA membership to all scholarship winners to increase their exposure and interest in AFCEA. Supporting Chapter Objective(s) Support Science/Math/Engineering/Technology (STEM) activities to promote educational value of future Young AFCEANs, fund STEM projects, provide publicity of chapter activities in support of our communities, and increase public awareness of AFCEA International. Major Activities: -Set selection criteria - Select small # of schools (Elem, Mid, High, College) - Define criteria for Teacher Tools Supporting Chapter Objective(s): Support Science/Math/Engineering/Technology (STEM) activities to promote educational value of future Young AFCEANs, provide publicity of chapter activities in support of our communities, and increase public awareness of AFCEA International. Major Activities: Provide visibility for the team during select Monthly Membership Luncheons. Have them attend special functions like our Volunteer Social. Enable participation in our booth during the annual Joint Warfighter Conference. Leverage knowledge gained with their team to potentially help grow other teams. 7 STEM: UAV Support Zenith Challenge Project/Synergy Hampton Roads/ AERO Services Description: Local high school students participate in college-level unmanned autonomous aerial competition. Annual event sponsored by Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). Competition challenges students to design, fabricate, and demonstrate system capable of completing specific/ independent aerial operations.
