Types of Volcanoes By; Anna and Andrea
2
Inside a Volcano (The main parts)
3
Composite Volcanoes -Also Called “Strato Volcanoes”
-Formed by alternating types of lava and rock fragments -They usually erupt in an explosive way which is caused by a certain type of magma called, “vicious magma” -The most common type of lava from a composite volcano is Andesite* -They (Andesite) usually make Composite Cones*
4
Cinder Cone Volcanoes -The most common type of volcanoes
-These volcanoes are steep-sided Basaltic* fragments and are smaller and simpler than Composite volcanoes. - They form when ash, cinders, and bombs pile up around the vent. -The volcanoes are melted rock that cooled and formed pebble-sized pieces.
5
Shield Volcanoes -Usually gently sloping
-Built almost entirely of lava flows -Produced by the action of gas
6
Lava Plateaus -They are very large areas of basaltic lava with a layered structure. -Lava makes the structure bigger with every eruption. They tend To be flat.
7
Calderas When a volcano is erupting and the lava chamber empties, it can collapse. That forms a caldera. It’s like a lake but it has an island in the center. That’s the volcano.
