Struggle for Peace in the Middle East Given the history of the Middle East conflict, do you believe that the Arab states and Israel can peacefully coexist in the region without one side destroying the other? a)YES. If the centrists in both camps can gain power and work together then peace is possible. The 1977 and 1993 peace agreements show that peace can happen and that, if the sides agree, peace can be lasting. b)NO. The conflict is so rooted in history that it will never end. There is no way the extremists on either side of the conflict will ever let peace ensue unless they destroy their enemies.

Struggle for Peace in the Middle East Should the U.S. be more involved in trying to broker a peace agreement between Israel and the other countries in the Middle East? a)YES. The U.S. should use its position as an ally of both Israel and Saudi Arabia to broker a peace deal in the region. b)NO. The U.S. should not get involved in a disagreement between other countries, and should stop trying to act as the world's policeman.

Struggle for Peace in the Middle East Given what you have learned about the Middle East, do you believe that the U.S. involvement in Iraq is helping or hurting the situation between the Israelis and Palestinians? a)It is helping the situation. It shows that the U.S. is strong willed and will protect its interests and support its allies (including Israel) in the region when it is forced to do so. b)It is hurting the situation. The U.S. is showing itself as an aggressor, and that is not what is needed to help quell the conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians.
