Underage Drinking By: Francisco Amparan

Underage Drinking  Underage drinking is obviously one of the most seen crimes around the nation. I am not here to tell you to stop drinking, because. e obviously we are in college and therefore are old enough to make smart decisions. My purpose is to try to raise awareness and simply inform everyone on some facts they might not have heard of. Simply because there are dangers that can be brought about and foreseen in early alcohol consumption such as death, and disease. It is a very serious matter that although decreasing in the nation it is still seen often

In Texas  Minors who consume alcohol, try to purchase it, or are publicly intoxicated face  - A class C misdemeanor with a fine of up too $500  - Mandatory Alcohol awareness class  anywhere from 8- 40 hours in community service  -30 to 180 days of license suspension  Facts by -http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/laws/underage_drinking_laws.asp

The table to the left shows that the largest amount of teen’s began alcohol consumption in the early age of 13. The table to the right shows a study on the use of alcohol within full time college students. It basically states that men tend to drink more than woman, and that teenagers tend to drink more often in long periods of time. http://www.browardprevention.org/about-opp/safe-schools-healthy-students-sshs/programs/substance-abuse-prevention/

Real Situations http://www.parade.com/106759/emilylistfield/12- teen-drinking-epidemic/ A quick example, in a Connecticut college a Mother and husband where woken up to a phone call who made by their 18year old daughter. There daughter was drunk and all she kept repeating to her mother was “I don’t know where imp at” Once the mother got a hold of one of her daughters friends she found out her daughter had been drinking and she had fallen and hurt her face. After her mother phoned campus security her daughter was found with a face full of blood and she did not seam to know much of what was going on. The picture above shows that the new short of beer that get mixed in with energy drinks are ridiculously strong. The alcohol levels in one of these mixed drinks can be ridiculously high.

The Reality  In another study found %60 percent of college females to acquire aids, and other sexually transmitted diseases where intoxicated.  %90 percent of campus rapes happen when alcohol is in use by either the assailant or the victim  %95 percent of campus crimes are alcohol related. http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/UnderageDrinking.html#.UoONdmXTljo

The Reality  Alcohol abuse can lead to many dangers physically and emotionally. Emotionally one can go through a dangerous situation such as the one I stated in the last slide. A situation of that type can really leave a mental toll on a human that can result in serious problems in the future.  It is assumed that if you begin alcohol consumption at the age of 15, are 5 times more likely to develop alcohol dependency or abuse  http://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/fact-sheets/underage-drinking.htm http://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/fact-sheets/underage-drinking.htm  Long term alcohol use can lead to liver cancer, cardiovascular disease, Cirrhosis, dimentia, heavy depression, seizures, gout, and high blood pressure.  http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/alcohol-abuse/features/12-health-risks-of-chronic-heavy-drinking?page=2
