José María Lozano Garrido 2º of BACHILLERATO Scientific and Technological Research AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRICAL ABSTRACT: In this work we have addressed the electric motor and specially the new model of BMW electric car home. We have studied in depth the technological characteristics of the new car, which is considered as one of the cars with more forward-looking, and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of electric cars, making a comparison with conventional engines. A French study, which raises the question that if a car actually pollutes more than gasoline electric one is also presented. Finally, work with a personal reflection concludes by highlighting the virtues of such cars to the detriment conventional cars. 1

Work points 1. History of electric cars 2. General description 3. Advantages and disadvantages 4. Market study 5. What pollutes more a fuel car or an electric? 6. Why bet for an electric car? 2 www.masquemaquina.com

1. History of electric cars: The first pure electric car with fuel cell non-rechargeable was invented by Scottish businesses Robert Anderson between 1832 and 1839 After the appearance of the first rechargeable batteries in 1880, the electric car became the king of the road; sale far exceeded that of the steam cars and gasoline. With the invention of the starter in 1912 by Henry Ford, gasoline prices reached a very popular and made the gasoline car contase with greater autonomy, leading the electric car stay in the background. Nowadays the development of electric vehicles is in its stage of massive production, powerful engines that drive having achieved and are powered by batteries capable of providing greater autonomy to them. 3 Robert Anderson Henry Ford

2.How does an electric motor works? Brushes communicate electricity on the switch, and this to the copper wire generates a magnetic field. Makes a side of the magnet attracts the reel side while the other repels it. When they have to remain stationary, the switch causes the current flow is the opposite, so that the coil is repelled was drawn and it was repelled is drawn. 4 www.masquemaquina.com

3. Advantages: -Cost savings in fuel costs -Ecology and environmental care. -Less pollution and waste. -Noise reduction -Much smaller and economical maintenance -Tax benefits in the purchase - The possibility of using car batteries as storage / electricity distributors to spread the load from power plants Disadvantages: -Higher initial cost. -Low autonomy of movement. -System electrical outlets yet standardize -Low charging infrastructure -Slight variety of models -Expensive domestic Chargers -Shortage of specialized workshops -Low life (About a year and a year and a half less than conventional) 5

4. Market Study 6

5. What pollutes more a fuel car or an electric?  Conclusion: The work acknowledges the difficulty to determine which vehicle means less consumption and environmental impacts. Yet it also makes clear that electric vehicles can provide significant advantages.  There are lines of research that recommend to advance in the development of batteries and the smarts grids, but especially highlights the need to decarbonise electricity in Europe, which is achieved with nuclear and renewables.  Top data provided under analysis:  Vehicles  Batteries  Uses  Manufacturing  Limitations  It seems important to remember that Europe is now drawing its energy strategy for 2030:The electric car will have nothing clean if is not clean the electricity to recharge the batteries 7

6.End conclusion:Why invest in an electric car? Throughout the work we have observed the main advantages and disadvantages posed at this moment, electric cars, the number of advantages being higher. However, now opt for an electric vehicle is unsafe because the world is not fully adapted to enjoy this technology and also must be developed to overcome much gasoline cars. But at the same time is necessary because if we do not start mobilizing this breakthrough Who will?. Moreover, based on the graphics discussed above, we have observed that electric cars are evolving rapidly, making in 2012 the number of electric cars sold would increase the number of cars and gasoline sold decreased. Therefore, you should bet for electric cars because we have seen how they can become a means of transport very clean, which is favorable for us, our health and our planet. 8
