3 EURopean Employment Services n Aim is to facilitate the free movement of workers in the Member States of the European Union, and in the European Economic Area n Formed as a partnership of the Public Employment Services of the 17 states and the European Commission (DGV) n Human Network consists of 500 Euroadvisers n Supported by a computerised network

7 Euroadvisers n Are principally located in local employment offices providing direct Advice and Guidance to workers on :- –Finding Work –What types of work available –Social Security rights –Healthcare –Accommodation –Education, etc. –Euroadvisers also offer a placement service n Euroadvisers also provide information to employers on how to recruit at the European level

8 EURES Computerised Network n Offers 4 facilities –Exchange of job vacancies between the public employment services –Information database on living and working conditions –E-mail network –Internet Services

9 EURES Users n In the first phase (launch 1994), the users were the 500 Euroadvisers n In the second phase (ongoing), the system reached out to local agents of the Public Employment Services n In a third phase (1998), the system reached out to the general public (EUROPA Web site) n In the future, the system will reach out to all agents of all Public Employment Services (the partners)

11 Funding n Commission provides –Telecommunications Network (TESTA - DGIII) –Development and Maintenance of the computerised network (DGV) –Basic Euroadviser training in free movement issues –Continuation training on specific subjects –Language training n Partners provide –Network of people including salaries –Managerial and technical support
