Take aways Determine what STUFF can be donated. –Usable vs Scrap excess items. –How can usable excess items be used. Determine who can use the STUFF. Develop a procedure that the company deems acceptable for donations that benefits the community.

What is excess? Excess - property that is in excess of the amounts needed to complete current and/or projected taskings, projects or programs, “excess” is synonymous with “surplus.”

Recommended Procedure

Screen internally for reuse. Determine best fit donee for item(s). Obtain letter from Donee (if first time donating to that organization). Arrange site visit to determine if item is usable by organization.

Arrange pick up time. Arrange internal help if needed. Create pick up documentation. Have Donee and non-property employee witness donation and sign documentation.
