“The Fullness of Salvation:
The Exchange” Northside Mission Church (17-Sep-2011)
2
Review To not neglect the “great salvation” the Lord has given to us (Hebrews 2:3) The sad history of the Israelites in the wilderness, how they “did not believe in God”, “did not trust in His salvation” and sinned by “limiting the Holy One” (Psalms 78:21-22, 41) 3. “Salvation” is the all-inclusive word that describes all God’s wonderful benefits to us made possible by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross
3
Review 4. Our salvation, based on Christ’s finished work on the cross is completely complete. But our appropriation of all the benefits of this salvation is ongoing (Hebrews 10:14) 5. There are 3 tenses to Salvation: The Perfect Tense (Ephesians 2:8) The Simple Past (Titus 3:5) The Continuing Present (1 Corinthians 1:18)
4
Review 5. “SOZO” – “to save” (most common)
“to heal” (Matthew 14:35-36) “to be delivered (from oppression)” (Luke 8:35-36) “to make whole” (Acts 14:9) “to make well” (Acts 4:9) “to be brought back to life” (Luke 8:50) “to preserve” (2 Timothy 4:18)

Grace & Mercy Grace – to receive from God what we don’t deserve and can never earn Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”
8
Grace & Mercy Mercy – to not receive from God what we do deserve and rightfully earned Matthew 18:33-34 “Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ ”
9
Exchange Both Grace and Mercy is explained beautifully in just one word – Exchange Hebrews 10:14 “For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified”
