5 Computer Hardware - Software - what do these words have in common? Both words have the suffix “ware”, which means something that’s a useful tool. We use similar words to describe similar things, and then make words distinctive by adding a word to show what’s different. Why does one word use the prefix “hard” and the other use the prefix “soft”? Sometimes we have to even invent new words for things that didn’t previously exist! Hardware Software
