What is a scope? Essential tool for automotive diagnostic and fault finding. Ideal for viewing and testing most automotive sensors and circuits. Captures and stores signals from sensors, components and actuators. Displays and expands spikes and complex signals.

What can it do? Ignition (Primary & Secondary) Injectors & fuel pumps Starter & charging currents ABS sensors. Crank & cam sensors Relative compression tests Glow plugs/timer relays Lambda, airflow, knock & MAP sensors The kit can be used to measure and test virtually all electrical and electronic components:

Why use a scope ? 2 main diagnostic techniques - ECU Fault codes and scopes. Both have advantages, but used together are very powerful. Scopes enable the actual signals to be viewed Scopes speed up diagnostics, especially where there’s no fault code, or it is wrong or misleading. A real Time-Saver ! A scope can confirm fault code diagnosis, before expensive parts are swapped out. They may just need cleaning! Reduced Manufacturer Warranty Costs - due to elimination of unnecessary replacement of non-faulty parts. Connections and wiring faults can easily be pin pointed Easy saving of data for analysis, and comparison with stored benchmark traces. Waveforms can be transmitted easily by email, for remote diagnosis.

ADC-212/3 Dual channel + trigger Vertical resolution of 4000 ‘dots’ 12 bit resolution 32k sample memory 3MS/s sampling rate +/-1% accuracy +/-10mV to +/-20V inputs in 11 ranges 1.5MHz analogue bandwidth The Pico ADC-212/3 PC oscilloscope/meter is our recommended product for automotive diagnostic and fault finding.

How do I use it? Load a reference waveform into PicoScope Load a web page. This shows how to connect the scope, gives advice on what the waveform should look like and gives general technical information Load the required settings, removing the need to spend time on setting up the PicoScope In the PicoScope software, the Automotive menu contains a list of the different sensors and circuits that can be tested with the Diagnostic kit. When the subject of interest has been selected, the software will automatically do a number of things:

What do I get? ADC-212/3 600A AC/DC current clamp 60A DC current clamp 20:1 attenuator 2x multimeter probes 2x small croc clips 2x dolphin clips Insulation piercing probes The Diagnostic Kit is based around the successful ADC212/3 oscilloscope and includes a powerful software and information package. The kit turns your laptop or desktop PC into a powerful automotive diagnostic tool for fault finding. The advanced kit includes: 2x TA000 test leads 2x Secondary Ignition Pickup 2-pin break out lead Cigar Lighter power lead Acupuncture probe set Automotive Software CD Quick start guide Durable carry case

Example Waveform: Secondary Ignition

Example Waveform: Multi-Point Injector (Voltage)

Example Waveform: ABS Speed Sensor

Example Waveform: Air Flow Meter - Air Vane

Example Waveform: Crankshaft Sensor - Inductive

Example Waveform: Lambda Sensor - Titania
