Two different approaches of PPS
« Stage » : continuous period of professional training in enterprise « enseignement en alternance » : alternate university – enterprise work based training

Stage Exists since many years in technical short curricula
(2 years of higher education) : BTS = brevet de technicien supérieur : 1 month each year DUT = diplôme universitaire de technologie : 2 months (can be considered as a test period in the view to be hired)

Academic tutor : which visits the student in the enterprise Enterprise tutor : which evaluates the work done in the enterprise Evaluation Individual written report Oral presentation Examination board (academic and enterprise tutors + …)

Alternate university / enterprise curriculum
« enseignement en alternance » Sandwich periods of time (few days, few weeks, few months, …) Old system for manual training in low level education system to prepare laborer to a specific job (butcher, carpenter, plumber, …) New system for university level students
