The mission of San Diego City Schools is to improve student achievement by supporting teaching and learning in the classroom. 2 Administrative Directives Use of all hourly and employment agency employees will be terminated effective August 31. New integrated position management process begins September 1. All central office overtime and extra-time will be eliminated effective September 1. Position reclassification requests are immediately integrated into new position management process. All Temporary Out of Class (TOC) assignments will be reviewed through the position management process and non-critical assignments will cease immediately.

The mission of San Diego City Schools is to improve student achievement by supporting teaching and learning in the classroom. 3 Administrative Directives Central office food purchases (other than those for student instruction or the feeding of students) are eliminated effective August 1. The Logistics Division will immediately serve as the districts only authorized agent for bidding, negotiating, purchasing, and executing agreements for goods, services and materials - except for annual textbook adoptions and facilities management. An immediate District-wide freeze is imposed for the purchase and implementation of all new or upgraded computer software, unless coordinated through Information Technology. All out of district travel and professional development using general funds is eliminated effective July 31.

California Districts –Los Angeles: Increase class size (4-12) Delaying IT Projects Cut $46 Million from Central Office Cut medical and health benefits Decreased workers’ compensation funding –Oakland: 10% cut across all non-school departments Administrator and Staff layoffs Hiring freeze Staff development cut

California (continued) –Poway: Lower teacher salaries 2 area superintendent positions cut 10 other positions eliminated School building closures Kindergarten transportation cut Middle school special day classes cut Master teacher program postponed –Fresno: Reduced high school discretionary funds Cut clerical positions Reduced campus assistant duty days

Nationwide –Detroit: Administrator layoffs Administrative facility closures Support staff layoffs Transportation cuts –Cleveland: 20% reduction in every administrative department –Milwaukee: Salary reductions Office supplies cut Conference and travel cut
