4. EDUCATION  In the state of Texas it takes 1000 hours of education to earn a cosmetology license.  Many people have the opportunity to come out of high school with it and ready to work.  If taken in college it takes students two to three semesters to earn their license.

5. SALARY  Starting cosmetologist usually earn about $10.50 -$12.75 an hour  The Bureau of Labor Statistics averages cosmetologists yearly salary to be about $40,780.
