Home!!! Fun Fact The reservation is located on top of 4 corners Arizona. The exact middle of the 4 states. Colorado Utah, New Mexico and Arizona The Navajos live in an almost 16 million acre reservation in the southwest of the United States Of America. Their reservation covers 3 and ½ states, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and a small amount of Colorado. The Navajos live on a wide range of habitat including deserts rivers and more!

Food, I need Food! Fun Fact Corn is usually planted in the north west part of the reservation on the warm plains. The pollen of corn is also considered sacred. The Navajos have a wide range of prey and recently domesticated livestock that they keep. They also plant and eat the 3 sisters known as, corn, beans and squash. The most kept domesticated animal that the Navajos use are the sheep because they are durable enough for the versatile Navajo habitat which could be cold extremely cold or hot.

Hey There’s the Hogan! Fun Fact The female Hogan, a much bigger structure ( Up to 23 Feet) is the result of domestication because these Hogan’s are mainly used as houses to settle down to look after a farm or sheep/cattle range The male Hogan was and is still the primary shelter for the Navajo people it was extremely useful because of its fast and easy making. The Navajos invented this structure because they needed a shelter that could be moved often to follow the always roaming sheep herds and prey.

Go away Evil People! Fun Fact The Navajos have to abandon the Hogan which somebody died in so to avoid the evil spirits of that person. The Navajos ceremonies are usually done to keep evil spirit/sickness away. The most used ceremony used by the Navajos is sand painting which is supposed to be the link to the gods. The other type of sickness/evil spirits remover is singing which is usually used to keep evil spirits away.
