Child Protective Investigators (CPI) serve children and families in crisis. When children were brought to the DCF Offices, CPIs did not have a child-friendly area or necessary supplies to care for the children when CPIs conducted investigations. In 2012, DCF contacted Victory for Youth and asked for assistance. LAW
4
At each of the DCF Offices, Victory For Youth created a Miracle Room to store supplies for children 0-18 (food, milk, diapers, clothing, etc.) and a child-friendly area to occupy children during the time of the investigative process. LORD
8
The supplies in each Miracle Room were used at a faster rate than expected due to: More children in crisis Walk-ins Homeless Families in need As a result, DCF needed additional support. LAW
9
Victory For Youth could not respond to the greater need, but had a solution: the call of Faith-based Organizations. Matthew 25: 37-40 “Many shall be at the last day rewarded by the Lord for clothing and feeding the poor, who, when on earth, had neither clothes nor bread to give, yet having had a heart to give,” LORD
10
DCF entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Victory for Youth to engage faith- based organizations to assist in meeting the needs of children and families. In order to receive faith-based services, families must consent for this type of assistance. LAW
12
The MOU opened the door for the faith-based organizations to work with the State to serve the community. The Lord and the Law are now in partnership to serve the community via the Share Your Heart program. LORD
13
The DCF Offices identified families in each of their areas that were in crisis and in need of food, clothing and spiritual support. DCF asked the Share Your Heart program to prepare faith-based organizations to respond to these families. LAW
14
The Share Your Heart program partnered with Baptist Health Congregational to create a specific training curriculum for the Volunteer Chaplaincy program in order to serve families referred by DCF who are in crisis and/or in need. A 16- hour training was developed. LORD
18
Volunteer Chaplain requirements: Official Church recommendation letter Complete 16-hour training course Level 1 Background Check Sign Share Your Heart Volunteer Chaplaincy Agreement Obtain ID and T-Shirt LORD
21
Upon receiving a referral, Share Your Heart deploys a Volunteer Chaplain to a family’s home from the nearest faith- based organization. This Chaplain is responsible for: Engaging with the family, Providing supplies for up to 72 hrs., Offering resources, hope, and spiritual support, and Sharing their heart and faith-based organization. LORD
23
The Law requires accountability and the Lord requires all things in order. Therefore, reports of all families served and the faith-based organizations involved are provided to DCF at the end of each month. LAW
25
In Luke 12:48, The Lord said, “Much given, much expected.” The accountability of reports is part of Share Your Heart’s responsibility to DCF and our Faith-based Partners. LORD
