16 Bureau Veritas S.A. internal use only – Life-Saving Appliances – BVN TM LSA3 – V0 – January 2010 Lifejackets’ Type Testing Size ► The Adult size can not be subdivided [MSC.48(66) § 2.2.1.2] ► An “adult SIZE” lifejacket fully complying with the requirements of two adjacent size ranges may be marked with both size ranges Lifejackets. ► An “adult lifejacket” not designed to fit persons weighing up to 140 kg and with a chest girth of up to 1,750 mm, suitable accessories shall be available to allow it to be secured to such persons. 3.2.4.2 – Shoulder lift test

29 Bureau Veritas S.A. internal use only – Life-Saving Appliances – BVN TM LSA3 – V0 – January 2010 Lifejackets’ Type Testing Shoulder lift Test ► Test form for shoulder lift test shall be verified prior to perform the test ► Immersed the lifejacket in water 2 min prior to conduct the test ► Apply a Force of not less than 900 N for 30 min across the form and the shoulder section of the lifejacket Apply Adult Lifejackets’ Type Process The lifejacket should not be damaged as a result of this test. The lifejacket should remain secured on the form during this test.

Acceptance criteria ► If injury is believed likely from any jump or drop test the lifejacket should be rejected or the test delayed Freeboard
