Aluminum: A Short History Lesson ●Discovered as element in 1825 by Hans Christian Oersted ●Known much earlier as alum ●Used to help dyes stick to cloth ●Also spelled: Aluminium ●1855- more expensive than gold ●Napoleon III had specially made aluminum silverware

Aluminum: It is everywhere ●Take a look around the room and see all the aluminum ●Soda cans, chairs, bats, glasses frames, inside your TV, protecting you from the blades of a fan….Everywhere! ●Can be thick or thin- Versatile

Aluminum: The King of Travel ●Aircrafts, space shuttles, cars, trains, trucks and boats ●Low Density = Low Weight ●Strong when heat treated ●Other metals are stronger and others are lighter, but aluminum is the perfect mix of the two
