C ONTENT P AGE More about Table Tennis! What is the objective of this mini game? What is the structure of this game? What are the rules for this game? How to play the game? Video on how to play the game! Why did we chose this game for our project? Why is this game meaningful to the players? Thank you for viewing this presentation!

M ORE A BOUT T ABLE T ENNIS Table tennis, also known as ping-pong, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight, hollow ball back and forth using table tennis rackets. The game takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, players must allow a ball played toward them only one bounce on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. Points are scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. A skilled player can impart several varieties of spin to the ball, altering its trajectory and limiting an opponent's options to great advantage. Table tennis is controlled by the worldwide organization International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), founded in 1926. ITTF currently includes 210 member associations. The table tennis official rules are specified in the ITFF handbook. Since 1988, table tennis has been an Olympic sport, with several event categories. In particular, from 1988 until 2004, these were: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles. Since 2008 the doubles have been replaced by the team events.

O BJECTIVE O F T HE M INI G AME This mini game that we have created is meant to test the scientific concept if the type of surface of the table tennis racket affects the height of the ping pong ball In this game, there would be 2 player competing against each other but not face to face like in the real table tennis game. The objective of the game is to score the higher points by hitting the ball higher than the opponent by hitting it into a hole of a greater height. However, this depends on the side of the table tennis mini racket used. Read more in the following slides.

W HAT I S T HE S TRUCTURE O F T HIS G AME There is a big cardboard piece just behind the net with rectangular holes. The height of each hole is marked on a cardboard bar just above the hole. A player has to use either side of the miniature table tennis racket to hit the ball into one of the holes. Each hole has a different point when different side of the table tennis bat is used. (pimple/smooth) Each player is given 10 shots in which he/she has to use the other side of the racket after each shot. The winner is the player who scores higher points than the other player.

R ULES A ND R EGULATIONS O F THE G AME Every shot by each player must be made using the different side of the table tennis racket then his previous shot. If the ball hits the net, the player scores “0” for that shot. If the ball does not enter any of the holes then the player looses that shot and gets “0” for it. A player is disqualified and immediately retires from the game when his hand crosses the line behind the net twice or he get “0” point three times.

H OW T O P LAY T HIS G AME To play the game, we must use one of the sides of the table tennis racket to hit the ball into a hole. To get better points and increase our likelihood to win the game, we should hit the ball higher and we should also keep in mind which side of the racket we are using. Different sides of the racket have different points for each hole, so we must be very careful when using the sides.
