2 Scenario Plessy vs. Ferguson ruled that blacks and whites should be separate, but equal. This paved the way for Jim Crow laws. Segregation of white and black students in schools was prevalent in the United States.

3 When Did This Event Occur? Brown vs. Board of education actually covers five different court cases dealing with segregation. The actual case of Oliver Brown vs. Board of education took place on May 17, 1954.

4 Definition of Terms Segregation- Separation of whites and blacks. Equal protection clause- part of the 14 amendment that no state shall deny any person within its juristiction equal protection of laws.
