Materials Needs These fuel cells use thin polymer membranes as the electrolyte that must conduct protons across membrane but not electrons and seal in gasses. Must also be resistant to conditions on both cathode and anode side of cell. Operate at 80 degrees C (compared to 1000 degrees C of others) and lighter to use. Trends Renewable energy is becoming increasingly important. Development of reliable, efficient fuel cell can be used in a wide range of applications Economically viable and environmentally beneficial.

BPA – BisPhenol A (estrogen mimic) 100% BPA Free Uses a new copolymer developed by Eastman Chemical Bottle is made from Tritan
5
Eastman Tritan EX401 copolyester 100% BPA free, highly durable, chemical and heat resistant Used by Camelpak in their better water bottles Also used in baby bottles, microwavable plastic containers, kitchen utensils

Lexan SLX is an amorphous polycarbonate copolymer with PC segments alternating with ITR segments. ITR (isophthalate terephthalate resorcinol) First the uv will penetrate the material until enough energy is stored in the material to transform the polymer configuration. The ITR transforms to hydroxybenzophenones which will absorb the uv radiation It was been lab test to hold 95% glossy finish for 10 years
