1 The Vikings were groups of people who lived in Norway, Sweden and Denmark long ago. They were explorers, traders and warriors who sailed to other lands to raid them. In their language, the word viking meant sea robber or pirate. Vikings were great sailors but also fierce warriors. They attacked and robbed towns and villages wherever they went.
