2 Clubs at Our School Pascack Hills High School by Ellen and Natalia

3 Academic Clubs Science League This club is all about science. The students in this club compete by completing tests and trying to get the most points. Chemistry Olympics This club is about chemistry. Math League This club is all about math. It is similar to Science League because the students have to earn points by getting correct answers on tests.

4 Academic Clubs cont. Ethics Students talk about different political issues in our country and our world today. Academic Decathlon This is a team competition where students compete against students from other schools. Students are tested in ten categories: Art, Economics, Essay, Interview, Language and Literature, Mathematics, Music, Science, Social Science, and Speech.

5 Debate Every year, the debate team is issued a new resolve to debate. For instance, this year, the resolve is about developing and exploring space. Students in this club have to write a debate plan which they will use in a debate against students from other schools.

6 Robotics The robotics team builds a new robot every year to compete in a game designed by FIRST, an organization that encourages students to learn more about science, technology, engineering, and math. They compete against other teams from all over the world!

7 Writing Newspaper Students in this club write the Pascack Hills High School newspaper, The Trailblazer. This newspaper is online and accessible to all students with a username and password Literary Magazine Students in this club write original pieces that are published in the literary magazine.

8 Art Clubs Yearbook Students in yearbook club take pictures of various students around the school to put in the yearbook. Art Club These students create art to be put in shows around the region and school.

9 Teens Against Cancer Teens Against Cancer is all about trying to find a cure for cancer. The students raise money for organizations such as The American Cancer Society.

10 Nature Awareness Animal Rights In this club, they educate students about animal rights and take action to help animals. Environmental Club In this club, students learn more about their environment and work to improve the area in which they live in.

11 Theater The theater club presents a fall drama, a winter musical, and spring plays every year. The students act, sing, and dance. This year the theater club put on a play called “The Paper Chase” and a musical about Elvis Presley’s music, “All Shook Up”.

12 Music Clubs Chamber Choir The chamber choir is an audition only select choir. They learn and perform songs at the school concerts and also at music competitions in their area Jazz Band A select group of band students learn and perform jazz music. Marching Band The marching band performs at football games and parades throughout the year.

13 Peer Leaders Peer Leaders are upperclassmen who volunteer to help freshmen get situated in the school. Some of the topics they cover are bullying and drug and alcohol abuse.

14 Language Clubs In Language clubs, students can learn about different cultures. We have a Spanish club, a French club, and an Italian club. We also have a Chinese club!

15 Chinese Club Students learn about Chinese culture, and enjoy food from different parts of China. Some topics that are covered are Tai Chi, Chinese New Year, and origami.

23 -An estimated 80% of the 9th grade participates in at least on seasonal sport while many participate in two or even three sports -For students who do not play any sports there are always clubs and activities after school to join

24 -The most popular sports include basketball, football, softball, and baseball

26 Community Service At Pascack Hills High School

27 What is Community Service? Community service is donated service or activities by a group of people for the benefit of the public.

28 Community Service in High School A certain amount of community service must be completed for students to graduate from high school Depending on the area, different hours of community service must be completed in order to graduate You need 30 hours of community service to be inducted into the National Honors Society at Pascack Hills

29 Community Service Clubs At Our School Our school has three community service clubs Project Patterson Peer Leaders Teens Against Cancer (TAC)

30 Project Patterson Students and faculty organize events such as fundraisers to raise money They give the money made to Patterson to help them financially and educationally Inside the school, students can donate toys for children in Patterson Participating in this club counts as community service

31 Peer Leaders Sophomores, juniors, and seniors can join peer leadership This community service involves events in school with freshman discussing social topics such as bullying and drug abuse This group counts as community service and is meant to guide freshman in their first year of high school

32 Teens Against Cancer (TAC) Teens Against Cancer is a community service that involves raising money to donate to cancer societies They have many events, such as a relay called “Relay For Life” This club contributes to community service hours
