Materials JTP Structure FIVE MAJOR TASKS: 1. Spray process optimizations 2. Fatigue 3. Wear and friction Fretting tests, carbon seal tests 4. Corrosion tests 5. Producibility tests - Stripability- Grindability - Assembly/Disassembly (This item could potentially be removed from JTP

Current Status of Materials JTP n Jerry Schell completed coatings optimization work on HVOF Tribaloy 400 and Tribaloy 800 at Hitemco in October 2001 n Hitemco has initiated deposition of T400, T800 and WC/Co (optimized in landing gear project) onto 350 fatigue coupons n Southwest United Industries to initiate deposition of hard chrome onto 162 fatigue coupons in early March n Remaining fatigue coupons have been fabricated; deposition awaiting optimization studies

Issues n Navy provided additional comments to MJTP in August 2001 n Jerry Schell assigned to special Navy project to implement PVD coatings onto turbine blades in T64 engine in November; expected to run through March 2002 Current Actions n Discussion held with Jerry Schell to address issues raised by Navy; another draft of MJTP to be prepared by late February n Meeting to resolve all outstanding issues and finalize MJTP was held on 19 February before HCAT Meeting n No-cost extension to contract with GEAE issued by Geo- Centers Should have extensive materials test results by time of August/September HCAT meeting
