Information We Discovered: 1.Measurements of parking lot and concrete 2.Roof pitches for three different roof angles Cement Thickness: 5 inches thick for the majority of the area (60%) 6 inches thick around the shop (10%) due to heavy cars 8 inches thick for shop floor (30%) due to heavy equipment Mr. Cowan believed strongly in putting a drainage system around the shop to prevent oil and grease run-off into the sewer system and local water area.

4. More Information: In Rutherford County they don’t have restriction, and rules in place saying about drainage systems. You actually don’t have to have one. In finding out about the cost of cement, and how much cement it takes to fill the parking lot we found out that it took a lot of planning, and money it was expensive to fill the parking lot. When they started to lay it, they would have to wait for sections to dry before they could start on the next section. Sometimes it would rain and they would have to wait a few days or so for it to stop raining.

5. When we finished measuring the parking lot we found out that the area was 175560yd 2. And it would cost $104 per cubic yard. It cost them $1688.08 to fill the parking lot with cement.

6. We found out that when constructing the building, the owners and designers considered the peek angles and roof pitches. The building is designed so that when it rains, water does not fall off of the roof and flood the parking lot.
