4. * Sam Walton and his brother James Walton started a Ben Franklin Franchise store in Newport AR in 1945 * Sam and James opened 15 Franchise stores * Sam created the first Walmart in 1962 in Rogers AR * There are Walmart stores in: the U.S; U.K; Japan; Canada; Argentina; Brazil; Chile; China; Coast Arica; El Salvador; Guatemala; Honduras; Mexico; Nicaragua; and Puerto Rico * He invented Sam's Club in 1983 * Received president medal of freedom from president George H.W. Bush
