LFM – Who We Are? Live Football Manager- Employability Through Sport (LFM) is a concept developed at University of East London by a group of students. The model promotes employability through football, to give an opportunity for young people between 12-18 years of age to use football activities to enhance employability.

LFM – Aims Business skills. Entrepreneurial skills. Apply their footballing ability and skills to business and reality. Explore career choices, exploring the range of jobs that are connected to Football. Manage their own career pathways.

Teach learners business and entrepreneurial skills in a football environment. Ensure that learners have a clear understanding of career opportunities within/outside the Football industry. Aid Learners in understanding the process by which various career paths can be pursued. LFM - Objectives

Help develop and enhance skills that learners already possess from football. Encourage critical thinking in a business environment.

How LFM Works 1 Players engage in various drill exercises and complete the LFM Employability Skills Audit 2 Coaches/managers/people living with disabilities oversee the drill exercises 3 Managers are given a ‘budget’ 4 Game Round 1 5 Players populate their YES Passports. 6 Managers ‘spend’ their budget on creating a squad (5/7/9/11 a side) 7 Players valued in all categories 8 Employability Tasks/Training – Players increase value 9 Game Round 2 10 Repeat

Live Football Manager Employability Through Sport - Schedule Day Start-EndTimeSkillActivityPersons involved Day 1 MON 5PM-6PM 10mins Self-management and Taking responsibility Personal SWOT analysis where each participant will be able to identify his strengths and weaknesses. As well, they will write down the skills they want to gain or enhance by the proposed time. This will teach participants career self-management and it will help them carry on with this planning objective to initiate participants to take charge and responsibility of their career plan. LFM Leader Players Coaches 10minsInitiative and Enterprise The participants will have the opportunity to act as a football manager and come u p with tactics to apply on the football filed. The coach will go over them with each participant and he will help them to develop it in order to apply it in the game. LFM Leader Players Coaches 20minsWorking effectively with other people This activity comprises of engaging participants with their team mates and other parties. This activity will divide the participants into teams where they will become “football clubs”, their mission would be to attract “investors” and the team with the most investors wins a special prize. This serves as an incent ive for participants to engage and strategize with each other to acclaim the top spot. LFM Leader Players Coaches

10mins Decision-making and Problem-solving This activity will utilize the field where the teams will be split into two teams and there will be a penalty shootout. The teams will have to vote on choosing a captain and the captai n and team will have to decide who plays on the p enalty shootout. This activity will help boost communication, problem solving and decision making. LFM Leader Players Coaches Day 2 MON 5PM-6PM 10mins Self-management and Taking responsibility This activity comprises of each team selecting a captain in rotation of 10 minutes, each minute will have a different captain with a different objective. This will teach the participant the ability to work under pressure and self- management, also, taking responsibility of their actions and decisions. LFM Leader Players Coaches 10minsInitiative and EnterpriseOnce they applied the tactics, after each game, th e player will have to prepare a presentation showi ng the team his feedback and his point of view of the game/tactics in order to build each participant self confidence LFM Leader Players Coaches

10mins Working effectively with other people A race will be arranged where each team will consist of 2 participants where their legs joined together and they have to jump for 10 meters. This game will motivate the participates to communicate effectively with each other to reach the finish line. LFM Leader Players Coaches 10minsDecision-making and Problem- solving Earlier this year, the 24-year old Sporting Gijon defender Javi Poves quit his job in protest. He was quoted by the Spanish daily ABC as saying, “The more you know about football the more you realise it is all about money, that it is rotten and this takes away your enthusiasm.” This statement will be given to the participant and they will be asked to suggest solutions to this issue.
