Our chosen theatre and why it is an ideal location for our trailer: Our group has chosen to film at the Kings theatre. The theatre would be ideal for our trailer with its red and gold vintage décor, as the theatre is so old it would help to convey the idea that it could be haunted, as it would have been used for many years previously. A newer theatre would not have been around as long meaning that it would be less convincing for it to be haunted. The décor is traditional and grand. This makes it a vibrant, interesting location as there would be lots of interesting decoration to enhance and attract the viewers attention. As it is so big, the theatre would offer us various different rooms and corridors for us to use to our advantage when filming. As it is a theatre and productions are still shown here, it is also possible that there may be storage rooms or various props lying around backstage which we could both borrow and use (with permission) to enhance the scene. As the location is a real theatre still in use it would make the film look more real and believable as we would not be using any fake scenery in our shots. There are also lots of different balconies and boxes which could give us great angles and heights to use to our advantage when filming. This could result in some stunning birds eye view and high angle shots. Shooting here would also be of benefit as one of our group members Eleanor Wemyss has volunteered at this theatre several times which not only means that she has a positive relationship with workers at the theatre but also that she knows the theatre well and would be able to advise us on which rooms would be better to shoot in and this would allow us to shoot quicker and more efficiently as we would not need as much time to find rooms within the theatre, decisions may also be able to be made quicker as a result of Eleanor’s knowledge.
