4 Make a revision plan - Time Management How many days are there until my first exam? How much revision can I do each day? Are there any dates that I cannot revise? How many subjects I am studying? How many topics do I need to revise for each subject? Which subjects do I need to focus on most?

6 A weekly revision plan – during a school week

7 Where should pupils revise? Warm Well lit (a reading lamp reduces eye-strain) In a quiet room Have a clock or watch nearby (time your revision sessions). How should you revise?

8 How to plan your revision:  Have a definite finishing time  Plan regular breaks  Get up and walk around during your break  Drink plenty of water  Have a tick list of topics to cover How should you revise?

11 Visual Learners: Maps Posters Charts Spider diagrams Cartoons Summary notes Mind maps

12 Auditory Learners: Record ideas on tape Say keywords aloud Tell another person Make a presentation Get someone to test you. Exchange ideas with your friends Play quiet, relaxing background music. Questioning each other using cue cards

13 Kinesthetic Learners: Walk n’ talk, Posters etc., Make a model, Role play/ Drama, Make a Mind Map, Write a story, Annotate diagrams, Make Cue/Flash cards or bookmarks.

14 Cue Cards – Making them Cards can be purchased from WHSmithr: Information – Clear and simple Mind maps Bullet points Diagrams Colourful Parental guidance is very helpful! Write questions on the rear of each card that will test you on the information.

16 Cue Cards – The Learning! : Creating the cards is just the start, possible ways to learn information: Copy them out Reading + Talking Have them around the house Teach the information Talk answers onto a device and listen back Answer the questions from the rear of the card Get somebody else to ask the questions – A parent? Repetition

19 How to plan your revision….  Revise the same work again after 10 minutes.  Briefly review the work: after 1 day after 1 week.  This method will fix the work quite firmly into your long-term memory. How should you revise?

20 How can students help themselves learn? High expectations. Take control and plan revision. Ask teachers for help. Complete all homework and coursework to the best of your ability. Good nutrition. Drink water. Sleep. Avoid stress. Exercise.

22 Positive Thinking – I CAN do this! Positive Thinking This is a chance to show everything I have learnt over the past five years. This is my chance to achieve I am capable of doing very well in this exam I deserve to do well, because I have worked hard I know what is expected of me in this exam – Everyone expects me to do my best!

23 What to do before exams… Get a good nights sleep Not to spend all night revising To get a good breakfast in the morning of the exam. To bring a bottle of still water. All students have correct equipment (black pen, pencil, rubber, ruler, maths equipment, calculator) To make sure students stay calm and feel prepared.
