List of Journalism Careers Print Newspaper/online Reporter (includes news, sports, entertainment) Newspaper editor Photojournalist Graphic/Page Designer Magazine writer (includes all magazine types- Seventeen, Sports Illustrated, etc) Magazine editor Advertising (newspaper and magazine) Cartoonist Columnist Broadcast Radio personality (ex: Kidd Kraddick) Radio/TV news producer Station manager TV/radio reporter Correspondent reporter (usually works overseas) TV editor (edits the videos taken by cameraman) News Anchor Cameraman Commercial Advertiser Weatherman

2. Power Point on Careers Pick 5 careers from the previous list. Each career will have 4 slides:  Slide One: Career title: Essential functions of the job described with a couple of examples of each  Slide Two: Required education, experience, skills, and abilities  Slide Three: A description of the physical demands, and a description of the work environment.  Slide Four: Possible Salaries and job outlook for the future

3. Successful Journalists On the same Power Point after the job descriptions, choose 3 successful journalists from different career paths.  (They don’t have to be the careers you chose for the job descriptions) Each successful journalist will have slides:  Slide One: Introduce journalist, field/career, and company they work for. Include photo of the person, if possible.  Slide Two: Talk about examples of their work that either won awards or was successful.  Slide Three: Mini-biography- How did they become successful? Education? What hurdles did they jump through? Etc.
