Final Science Reading Projects are limited to the following Objective Areas: Standard: 8Sd: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics, structure, and predictable motions of celestial bodies. Standard 8Se: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the effects of forces on the motion of an object. Standard 8Sf: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the properties and behaviors of waves.

3. Choose one of the following projects. 1. Do one of the WISE science projects on line. Complete all the steps online by 7 June 2013. WISE is a simple yet powerful learning environment where students examine real world evidence and analyze current scientific controversies. 5. Final Project (Report) 1. Select any scientific topic we have considered in this semester 2. Use on line sources given in this PowerPoint – not Google. 3. Find a recent experiment or research report of interest to you. 4. Design an experiment you can do to go one step farther or extend the research reported. 5. Students may work in groups, but reports must be individually done and unique from all others. 6. “Cut and Paste” is not allowed. 7. Summarize in your own words as if you were explaining to another 8 th grader. 8. Give step by step detail of what you will need and what you will do in your experiment. 9. Assume you have unlimited resources and access to any equipment you need. 10. First Draft Due 31 May 2013 NLT 1100 hours 11. Final Draft Due 7 June 2013 NLT 1500 hours.
