4. Non-perishable donations are shrinking. Feeding America reports that 3 – 6 billion pounds of produce goes wasted each year. The Foodbank’s average cost per pound for donated produce is $.17, compared to a cost of $.60 to acquire non- perishable items. The Changing Mix

5. Fresh is the Future In 2013, the Foodbank distributed more than 50 million pounds of food. Over half of the food distributed is now fresh – including fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy. In 2013, the Foodbank distributed more than 20 million pounds of fresh produce.

6. 35% of pantry food requests are for children and 15% are for senior citizens.

7. We rely on the support of more than 13,500 volunteers every year to help us grow food, sort food & get it to the people who need it most.
