This program focuses on providing children with Food Education Counseling Health & Medical treatment Ways for their care-givers to increase the family income

A local steering committee has been involved from the beginning. They created community- ownership of the project, and selected the most vulnerable children and families.

Teachers in the community volunteer as tutors to teach children on the weekends.

And a core group of community members encourage families and identify volunteer care givers for children with no relatives to care for them.

Food for the Hungry social workers make home visits every 6-8 weeks, and run after school clubs for the children.

The children’s guardians have joined Income Generating Activity Groups. They learn new skills, such as cleaning & spinning cotton, to increase their family earnings.

Tasik and Yared, mother and son, are both HIV +. The project provides them with a monthly ration of food and gives them access to Anti-retroviral medications.

Yalga proudly shows her handicraft. She lost both parents to AIDS. Now she is worried she will lose her grandmother too.

Yalga and her grandmother join the group waiting to receive their food rations.

Nearly 3,000 beneficiary families receive a monthly food ration of cooking oil, wheat, and peas.

This monthly food ration has allowed the families to stop moving in search of food, providing children the stability they need to begin the process of changing their lives.

Your support of CRWRC and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank makes this possible. The project can now continue for the next three years. Thank you! Photos by John Connelly

Please pray for the continued success of this ministry in Ethiopia - for the children, the volunteers, and the organizations who are partnering together to make this project possible! crwrc.orgfoodgrainsbank.cafh.org
