Identifying Major Milestones! Social and Emotional Milestones for a baby at 12 months, would be depending on the mother. For example, separation anxiety. You may notice your baby having a hard time to go to out, etc. Has favorite objects Shows fear in some situations Starts to play games like “Peek- a-boo” How can you enhance this developmental area? To enhance this milestone as a parent, you can simply ask the babysitter if its okay to arrive earlier, so that your baby can adjust. Social & Emotional Milestones

Cognitive Developmental Milestones o Your baby may start to make connections between objects and might be able to start pronouncing words o Copies gestures o Bangs two things together o Explores things in different ways (banging, throwing) How can you enhance this developmental area? Help your baby make connections between objects, point to things in a picture book while helping expanding their vocabulary.

Linguistic o Begins to babble o Recognize voices o Copies the words you say o Makes sounds with changes of voice How can you help to enhance this area? Teach your baby to say new words, pointing at objects and sounding them out for them. Singing and reading to your child.

Around now your baby's play will probably start changing from mastering his fine motor skills (he's got that thumb-and-forefinger grasp down pat) Fine Motor Milestones How can you enhance this area? Teach new fine motor skills, (handling a spoon, supervised colouring)

At this stage of child development, your child may be making their first steps! Child will hold on to furniture to help guide (Cruising) Gross Motor Skills What can you do to enhance this area? Child may tip toe on feet, parents can be there for support!

Describe a variety of measures parents can take to ensure the physical safety of your child Locking up dangerous ideas. Cupboards with heavy pots etc. Putting danger out of reach, etc. Be close when your baby is on the move "Baby Proof" your house!

Explain the importance of play for healthy child development at this stage The importance of play for a healthy child is so that the child will be able to enhance their learning skills. Helping to learn and playing with building blocks can help development, because your introducing toys and items that can help with linguistics and learning new skills the baby may not know!

Nutritious Meal! Children at the stage of age one, should be getting introduced to new different foods. Having new tastes and textures can help may the baby feel more comfortable with trying new foods! A nutritious meal for a one year old (12 months) would be having your baby eat from the rainbow! Getting a bunch of foods from each food group! For example! Fruits and veggies!! (Corn, peas, pears, strawberries) Easy to chew and taste good! Also for bigger meals rather then just a snack, could be rice, bread, and noodles!
