2 When is Pancake Day? This year, Pancake Day is celebrated on February 12 th. It’s always on the Tuesday before Lent (47 days before Easter ). It is traditional on this day to eat pancakes.

3 Why do they eat Pancakes? To use the ingredients they had and could not eat until Easter (fats, eggs,...) Pancakes use up the foods that aren’t allowed in Lent. Pancakes contain fat, eggs and butter.

5 What is a pancake? It is a thin, flat cake, made of batter and fried in a frying pan. A traditional English pancake is very thin and is served immediately from the frying pan. Caster sugar (superfine sugar) is sprinkled over the top and a dash of fresh lemon juice added.
