Analyze strategic plan and goals of the organization. Nominating/Governance Committee usually responsible for selecting and nominating individuals. Committee needs to be certain that nominations are impartial, there is a respect for diversity and the nominees are representative of the community. How Should Recruitment Begin?

Used to determine current makeup of the board. Helps to address needs and gaps that will lead to a diverse board. Used by the nominating/governance committee to identify needs, which will help towards the development of a recruitment plan. Board Matrix Worksheet

Job Description All prospective member should be given a job description when they are considering becoming a member of a board. One to two pages. Outline mission and vision of the agency. Outline the basic expectations and responsibilities for the board position.
