PENN STATE’S RESPONSE STRATEGY Isolate students and their belongings in the room where bed bugs are suspected to be in Contact Pest Control immediately to inspect and determine if bed bugs are present Residence Life contacted to arrange for new housing location for residents if bed bugs detected Clothing and bedding are treated in dryers Pest Control to treat room over next 2 days Mattresses are removed, to be replaced after treatment Pest Control will return to re-inspect/re-treat in 2 weeks

35. T REATMENTS W ITHIN THE R OOM o Thoroughly Vacuum o Remove bag from vacuum and seal in trash bag. o Remove all posters, pictures, and mirrors. Maintenance employee will remove light & socket covers, bolsters, bulletin boards, etc… o Treat and bag the mattress and then we will remove. o Treat room & all items.
