3 The Jerusalem Example Acts 2:42 “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

4 The Jerusalem Example Continued – Keep up, never stopping, Very frequent, closely repeated. Stedfastly – Firmly fixed, constant. These two words tell us much about being faithful.

5 The Jerusalem Example The Jerusalem brethren “continued stedfastly” In four areas. We should use their actions as an example to follow today.

6 The Jerusalem Example I.APOSTLES’ DOCTRINE Certainly the Jerusalem example shows the importance of doctrine. II John 9 “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.”

7 The Jerusalem Example I.APOSTLES’ DOCTRINE II John 1:10 “If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:” Our emphasis must always be on Bible doctrine!!

8 The Jerusalem Example II. FELLOWSHIP “Sharing in common” is Vine’s definition of fellowship. I Corinthians 3:9 “For we are laborers together with God...”

9 The Jerusalem Example II. FELLOWSHIP Fellowship is something every member of the church should cherish. Ephesians 5:11 “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”

10 The Jerusalem Example II. FELLOWSHIP II Corinthians 6:14 “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

17 The Jerusalem Example IV. Prayer I Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.” The Jerusalem example was to pray constantly. Acts 12.5 “Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.”

18 The Jerusalem Example IV. Prayer Matthew 14:23 “And when He had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray...” If Jesus saw the importance of prayer, surely His example should motivate us.
