3. Stop motion animation Stop motion (also known as stop frame) is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. An advantage is that you can do anything with stop motion. Flick book animation A flip book or flick book is a book with a series of pictures that vary gradually from one page to the next, so that when the pages are turned rapidly, the pictures appear to animate by simulating motion or some other change. An advantage is that the result can be impressive. 5. Cel animation Traditional cel animation, is an animation technique where each frame is drawn by hand onto transparent sheets. The technique was the main form of animation until computer animation took over. 6. Cut out animation Cut out animation is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: cut out shapes arranged on a flat surface, and manually moved and repositioned to simulate animation. Cut outs can be colored paper, white paper with drawings on it, even photographs, and can be completely flat. An advantage is that its easy and accessible. 7. Rotoscoping Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which animators trace over footage, frame by frame. Originally, recorded live-action film images were projected onto a frosted glass panel and re-drawn by an animator. An advantage is that it looks good.
