2. The aftermath On January 12 2010 Haiti got hit by a huge earth quake it measured 7.3 on the Richter scale. An estimated 3 million people were affected by the earth quake, 100 000 to 160 000 people were killed. Up to 250 000 residences buildings and 30 000 commercial buildings were damaged or collapsed.

4. Haiti Haiti is a really poor country so when the earth quake hit them it took a big toll on them. Since they were poor they didn’t have medicine or food and water to help everybody and most every ones home was destroyed. So people all over the world went over to help them out by bringing food, water and medicine. Also helped looking for survivor's and caring for the injured.

5. Help Coming A bunch of countries sent support like medical staff, disaster relief, food and water. The United States, the UK, Israel, The Dominican Republic, Canada, Brazil, Italy and Cuba. All these countries helped out a lot and saved people and tried there best to fix what they could.

6. The Richter scale It was made up in 1935 by Charles f Richter. It tells how much energy the earth quake produced and the energy released increased by 31.7 times by whole number value. 10 is the highest number the scale goes to but whatever number it is could cause more damage or less then suspected. It matters what the grounds are like and the materials that the buildings and homes are built from.
