2. Yalta Computer Outreach June 22-July 8, 2006 Exeter Chapel Cranston Christian Fellowship

3. Our team was made up of 10 people from RI, 1 from Canada, 3 Ukrainians and Larry and Debbie from Germany.

4. Training times together in the spring helped the team prepare for their ministry in Ukraine

5. On Thursday, June 22, 10 team members met at Exeter Chapel to drive down to JFK Airport

6. Alvina, our Canadian team member, met us at JFK with a smile!

7. Our international journey had begun!

8. In Kiev, we changed terminals…several times…

9. Then, we were on our way to Simferopol, our final stop

10. Were we ever happy to see Larry waiting for us at the airport!

11. Praise God! We finally arrived at Yalta Baptist Church!

12. Team members slept in rooms at the church…

13. …2 or 3 in each room

14. We ate our meals together in the same room where we had classes

15. Anya cheerfully fixed all of our meals and washed all of the dishes

16. Breakfast…

17. Lunch… we had soup every day

18. And supper…

19. On Saturday we spent most of the day setting up the classroom…

22. Boy, were those computers heavy!

23. We also had a team meeting…

24. …and worked on lesson plans

25. Then we were off to the bank to exchange our money

26. So we could begin shopping for souvenirs

27. Vera came down from Kiev to translate for us the entire time. She works at a university as a technical English teacher and did a fantastic job!

28. On Sunday we attended services at the church

29. Larry preached during the morning service…

31. Bob spoke in the evening service

32. And several gave their testimonies…

33. Our daily team meetings gave opportunity for prayer and planning

34. Monday morning registration brought in more students than we could fit in the class…

35. …the decision was made to add a 3 rd class each day

36. Most of the students learned about the classes from a poster placed on telephone poles in town

37. Benjamin and Larry welcomed everyone…

38. We team-taught various segments from the front of class…

39. …while teachers helped 2-3 students at each computer station

41. “This is a mouse.”

42. “And this is your keyboard.”

43. After about an hour and a half of teaching, one of the team members shared a devotional

44. …and one of us shared a testimony each day

45. Students listened intently…

46. Time for snacks…

47. Then it was time to get back to class…

48. …and more tutoring…

50. The team taught for 9 hours each day…

51. …getting to know their students…

52. …teaching graphics…

53. and typing…

54. demonstrating how to manipulate photos…

55. And showing Christ’s love and showing Christ’s love…

56. On Friday, Larry taught an important class on computer ethics

57. Then we had a closing ceremony…

58. Each student received a certificate…

59. a portfolio of their work…

60. a CD-based evangelistic course on the Life of Christ…

61. and a Gospel bracelet that explains the Gospel by colors

62. By 9 p.m. most evenings, we were ready for the half hour walk down to the boardwalk

63. We didn’t go on a cruise…honest!

64. Though we saw several cruise ships in the Yalta port

65. …as well as other beautiful sights…

66. We even found McDonald’s…

67. Several mornings the guys got up early to swim in the Black Sea

68. On Saturday we visited Livadia Palace …where the Yalta Conference was held after World War II

69. We visited the beautiful nearby mountains…

70. And ate some colorful food!

71. Yalta has many gorgeous sites…

72. But what impacted our lives was the people we met

73. Visiting in homes…

74. …making new friends

75. …sharing God’s love with our students
