MAGIS2011

1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 MAGIS-WYD 1.2 INSPIRATION 1.1 MAGIS-WYD 1.2 INSPIRATION

1.1 MAGIS-WYD On the previous editions, there has been a feeling of lack of continuity between MAGIS and the WYD. Therefore, we want for the Magis2011:  To be a pastoral project that helps the young people in their human and spiritual growth.  To be an experience that prepares the young people for the WYD.

1.2 INSPIRATION The theme chosen for Magis2011 is: It links with the WYD theme: “rooted in Him and built up on Him, held firm by the faith” (Col 2,7) As it will take place in Spain, we’ll use the figure of Ignatius Loyola and his “pilgrim” biography, because the WYD is a pilgrimage of young people from around the world to meet Christ through the Church. Therefore, the bases that support Magis2011 are: Pilgrimage, with Christ, in the World, as a Church. WITH CHRIST AT THE HEART OF THE WORLD

A) PILGRIMAGE Throughout history many people, like Ignatius of Loyola, have travelled great distances to meet God, to find their place in the world and in the Church. Following the experience of Ignatius, Magis is an invitation to pilgrim from our hearts to the world, with Jesus Christ by our side. It is a time to grow and be changed by the world and by the Lord. It is a vital attitude that makes us to be more and better people.

B) WITH CHRIST Jesus invites his disciples to be aware of God's action in places and people where it would never be expected. He calls us to see, love and serve God and the world in a different way. His way is our way. From Him we receive the Good News, that we want to communicate to the world.

C) IN THE WORLD The world is our home, place of encounter with others and with God. A rich and diverse world, though broken by inequalities. In the midst of human suffering, God calls us to build bridges and cooperate in His mission of reconciliation.

D) AS A CHURCH In this way the pilgrim discovers other companions engaged in the same task. Together they discover the grace of being called and to belong to the Church, a fraternal and diverse community.
