Writing Write From the Beginning: The writing curriculum that we use is District wide. It incorporates the use of Thinking Maps to help the students begin the writing process. We write narratives that include a main idea based on real or imaginative events, expository text, persuasive text, opinion writing, and research projects. Performance Objectives Reading R1Parent writes a list of 10 words. Child writes them in alphabetical order to the second letter. R2Parent says a combination of 10 sentences and groups of words that are not complete sentences. Child tells whether each is a complete sentence or not. Example for complete sentence: The duck is quacking. Not a complete sentence: Is quacking. R3Parent says 10 sentences. Child tells whether each is a statement or a question. R4Parent listens to child read orally 2 homework lists from previous weeks. R5Parent says 10 vocabulary words from current and previous week lists. Child tells what each word means and says a sentence in which the word is used correctly. R6Parent listens to child read orally a total of 15 minutes a night or 1 hour a week. R7Parent reads aloud to the child a total of 15 minutes a night. R8Parent asks child to tell the main characters, setting, and plot of a story the child reads aloud or silently.
